Face to face and online Counselling

My counselling approach

I work with women who feel trapped or lost in their own life. I understand that when we have experienced trauma or adversity, we can get stuck in patterns that do not serve us such as people pleasing, feeling that we aren’t good enough or putting ourselves last. Perhaps you have started to wonder how you have got into the situation that you are in because life isn’t what you imagined, or you don’t enjoy any of the things that you do. Perhaps you feel weighed down by the past and don’t know what to do about it. It is quite possible that your mental health is suffering as a result of these circumstances. Perhaps you are experiencing low mood, depression, anxiety, panic or symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

Due to my background in Human Resources I also specialise in supporting anyone (not just women) who would like help with workplace trauma, stress, bullying or adversity. I also have tools to help you explore the possibility of a new career or calling.

If either of these scenarios sound like you, I want you to know that I see you and hear you and I would love to help.

I am committed to helping individuals of all ages get their lives back after trauma or other adverse experiences. As well as helping you to learn to heal yourself, I can help you to discover what you want for yourself, rather than what society or others have told you that you want or need. I mainly work with women because I believe that the messages women and girls receive are different from those that men receive, and I have years of experience of helping women explore these messages and move on from them.

If you have experienced emotional abuse, discrimination, childhood neglect, abandonment, loss, sexual abuse, domestic violence, bullying, medical trauma or any other trauma or adverse experience it is understandable that you need a safe space to work out how to move forward and have someone to support you. I believe it is possible to break the patterns that emerge after trauma, loss, or adversity as I have seen it many times in my practice.

How can my counselling help you?

As I’m an integrative counsellor I have many techniques that can help you in your healing journey and we will go at a pace that is right for you. It is a collaborative process and I want to hear from you about what works and what doesn’t. Here are some the ways I can help you gain or regain your freedom and identity:

  •  I can help you identify, understand, and change the detrimental patterns that may have developed due to a traumatic childhood, adverse relationships, or conditioning from society.

  • I understand how trauma is stored in the body and can help you to process that trauma.

  • I work creatively and can help you to understand and express yourself through art, writing, metaphor, and other creative interventions.

  • If you are prone to living in the past or future, I can support you in learning to live in the here and now which is incredibly important for living a meaningful and enjoyable life.

  • So many of us get stuck in our head: I can help you to bring together body and mind and discover the things your body is trying to tell you.

  • I can help you to cultivate self-compassion which can be so sadly lacking when you have experienced trauma.

I am an accredited counsellor with five years experience in private practice and I can offer a safe and nurturing space, either in person (OX3), or online, to focus on your agenda. I offer short term and long term therapy.
